For a year and a half I was in Nike gear.
It was right after having my son. It was easy and still cost me a lot of money so that’s how I justified it.
The day after I had my son I got on the scale and I had lost 21 pounds! Even though I had lost all this weight my body was different and my pre-prego clothes no longer fit “right”.
To this day I think that had I worn real clothes, I may not have gained those 21 pounds (and then some) back. The sweatpants helped to hide my new shape and the yoga pants helped to compress everything along the way to create the illusion of being fit.
In an attempt to save you and my future self from this self perpetuating trap, I’ve comprised 3 tips to help you get back to You: 2.0.
1) Look at old pictures. But not for the reason you think. Instead of saying” I want look like her again”, try to find things that defined your look in old pics. Was it your hair? Did you always keep a fresh manicure? Were you A fan of wrap dresses? Use those things to connect to yourself. They will ground you.
2) Change your hair! Whether it’s something as simple as switching your side part or wearing your hair in its natural state, do it! Not only does it cause you to spend quality necessary time with yourself, it somehow magically makes you feel different when you wear the same old clothes you had pre-hair change.
3) Repurpose things that you already own. Maybe that scarf you wear on your head at night would be better appreciated tied on the handle of your purse. Are you bold enough to wear your sweats with heels? Give it a try, what’s the worst that could happen?
I hope that these ideas will be as valuable to you as they are to me. How have you been able to maintain your personal style? Please share in the comments below, I’d love to know!
All the best,
